Lunch at Qi

I was looking for Thai food near my job and didn't want to travel far to get it. On my google search I found one just a block away and the lunch special is what really drew me in!

Here we have a chicken/shrimp dumpling that is steamed! This was a free appetizer that comes with every lunch special. There are different options but I chose the other one (below a few pictures). Oh boy was it good!  I loved the fresh cilantro and the sauce it came with. I was really surprised it came with 4 dumplings instead of just 2.

This beautiful drink here was free due to the long wait we had to endure on our lunch trip. Although it was lunch time, there was only one waiter and more than 50 people  seated. It is normally $1.50 with your lunch special and $2 with out. this was a Thai Ice tea for those of you who may not know!

The decor was really interesting. I had to take a picture of the fixtures while I waited for my food to arrive. I read a few reviews on how the decor was a bit weird. I wouldn't really say weird but it's more or less eye catching.

My friend ordered the spicy Thai basil sauce with chicken. it was pretty good.. He didn't complain!
My lunch combo was Excellent! I got the fried chicken/shrimp dumplings. Although I liked the steamed ones, I loved the fried ones even better. They were both different and I could definitely eat both all over again!
I ordered the Green curry (my usual suspect when I try out a Thai place) I usually judge them on the spice level. It was that, and I needed something to clear my sinus pressure :) It was really good!!!
Sometimes you may find that thy give you more eggplant than chicken, but it was really balanced. I for once was really full after this lunch adventure.
For the main dish and the appetizer per person it averaged about $8 bucks. Please tell me where your getting all of that food in mid-town for that cheap and good!

There are other things on the menu that i would love to try on another adventure but till then Happy eating!!!
I highly recommend going here after 2PM for lunch if you can wait that long :)

Girls night out!!!

We were celebrating the last days of my cousins pregnancy. This cute swanky place was excellent. From the decor to the food, they did not disappoint!

Here we have the lobster tacos! Yes they were GOOD. I couldn't believe how crispy the crust was and how awesome that aoili sauce was on top. We almost ordered another round! Here we only have two orders. Each order comes with 3 tacos. It's a must try!!!

Here is Garganelli
(spicy veal bolognese, whipped Little Italy ricotta ) OMG was it good!!! It was velvety and smooth. The ricotta was so light and fresh!!

Oven Braised Chicken Meatballs
sheeps milk ricotta, wild mushroom, truffle. I didn't read the description of the meatballs before they came to the table. I could smell and taste the truffle and was really amazed at how soft and sutle it was. The sauce was awesome. The meatballs were nice and juicy. This too is  must try!

The home made ice cream (vanilla) was awesome too! Very light and refreshing

Black Bottomed Butterscotch Pot de Crème! This was to die for! We all had the look of satisfaction on our faces when we took a bite! There was little to no disappointment with this desert!

The drink I had was called the Beauty Elixir. I recommend it. The other drinks that the other girls had were Earl The Pearl and O.D.B. “Old Dirty Bramble” They were all good!

I definitely recommend this place for a girls night out, date or just a chill spot. The people are nice, waiters are cool and the food, of course is AWESOME! check it out, you won't be disappointed!!

Lunch Coupons are always something special!

My friend got this awesome coupon that included 4 beers and two sandwiches for $33 bucks!

Here we have six point... It was pretty decent... Not really a fan of light beer lately but this one has a pass... can't really critic a free beer now can you!

My friend ordered the chicken sandwich...  which I had the liberty of stealing half of because it was soooo good. You could tell that everything was fresh in every bite. I'm sorry a small piece wouldn't have satisfied my pallet... just saying!

Now my sandwich I was not too pleased with... My weekly regimen consist of one seafood a week. I mis-read the description of this sandwich and was highly displeased with my order!!!  I got a smoked salmon and was anticipating a grilled salmon between two buns and some sort of aoli sauce... I ended up giving my friend the sandwich and I ate most of his.

It was a good time though no complaints. Would I come here again? Yes they had other things on the menu that looked really good. I  recommend coming here for the beers of course!!

This is a beautiful date night spot!!!
The ambiance, the staff, the food... are all so....

Here we have a complementary dish while we looked over the menu. It was polenta  with their fresh marinara sauce. OMG was it good!!! it was light and fresh and so decadent that I wanted more.

Here we have a blurry picture of their sangria. YES this too was GOOD! we got a pitcher and was more than satisfied with our choice. They had other great choices on their wall to choose from but seeing the sangria on their shelves looked really appealing.

Out of their daily appetizer specials we decided to go with their herb roasted calamari. It was knock your socks off good. Again sorry for they horrible picture.. this does not justify how it looked on the plate. It came out on a sizzling  pot and the waiter served us both. The fresh rosemary, thyme and oregano balanced really well with the olive oil and what ever else was in that sauce...
My date ordered the lobster ravioli... He was really please. The picture doesn't show how big the ravioli's were but boy were they good!!!. The waiter insisted on getting this dish and he was not lying on the reason why. every bite was filled with flavor and of course LOBSTER!!!

I ordered the pesto gnocchi. I was really happy with my dish (another choice selected by the waiter) The pesto was so refreshing and smooth, and you could tell that the gnocchi wasn't store bought gnocchi because of the creamy texture it had.

I definitely recommend going here for a nice date night or a one one one with a friend. this is really a nice chill spot. Very romantic!!!

The pizza I ordered  was a chicken pizzaAfter the first bite I was hooked. I was shocked how thin and tasty it was. My other firends had other pizzas, but I think mines was the best. Let's talk about awesome random lunch. I was craving Salmon for a week and googled the closest Japanese inspired place. I stumbled upon this place and fell in love with the menu and prices. Below we have the reason why!

This green tea is so fresh and refreshing that I was shocked it was complementary to any dish you ordered. I ate at the bar, but i could have grabbed any seat that I wanted. The decor and atmosphere was a combination of goth meets modern art.

Here we have the reason why I fell in love with the place. I ordered a bento box like always. In midtown $10 could get you so far... But this beauty was $12 and do you see the size of my plate; let along the size of the salmon. Everything was fresh and appetizing. I almost  felt bad that I wanted to take it out instead of eating it there. Glad I stayed and made a friend at the bar.

After eating I fell in a food coma; something I never fall into, let alone feel full after a meal. I told everyone at the office and showed them the pictures. Of course they were shocked I found such a Gem. They were also shocked that i was full!

I highly recommend this place to anyone. The other dishes I saw leave the kitchen looked just as good as my lunch. I would definitely come here once a week just to tickle my fancy. Oh and P.S. I will try their Happy hour!!!!

Hello friends. My appetite for always resorts into me wanting more food. Well ladies and gentlemen.. in the case of man verses food.. Food won!!!
I was In shock that for $24.99 all you can eat Breakfast/Lunch and unlimited drinks until 3:30. I died and went to heaven that day. No joke.
Everything tasted so good. Nothing was short on flavor./

I can't describe what I had due to the fact that I was in a food coma for the whole day. But I believe the pictures are self explanatory
I swear I had this plate at least twice that day. That stuffed ravioli was DA BOMB!!!!!
My dessert was light. I forgot to take a picture of the Canollis. They were bite size heaven in your mouth!!

I stuck to Bellini because it's the real thing. I had about 7 of these in 2 hours. Yes my liver was crying due to the fact that I had been inebriated the night before.

I highly recommend going here with the family or with friends. With prices like that you can't find else where!!!!

Where do I begin. Well, the pizza we have below is a lobster pizza. I was not your average lobster pizza. The sauce was more of an Alfredo sauce, and the lobster and shrimp were coked to perfection. they weren't chewy as you's expect it to be from some places. over all I wanted more

Here we have my favorite item at the place. Chicken rolls are easy to mess up. Some placed don't make the rolls with sauce inside. Well my friends, the sauce is so flavorful  that they give you extra to dunk this awesome creation in. This log of chicken goodness was only $5 bucks... beat that any where else.

When I'm in the neighborhood, I do not hesitate to stop by this place. You won't either if you try it! Till next time happy eating!

Hello all! Once again I have embarked on a road less ventured for experiences like the one I had here!!

Here is a Thai Ice'd Tea drink my friend had. Holy cow It was good. I had to refrain from stealing it from him. It was not sweet (Juust how I like my drinks) and it hid the alcohol very well. I would Highly recommend going here for this drink. ( I didn't even finish the blog and I'm recommending only a drink LOL)

Here was my drink. I forgot what it was called, but I do remember it had grenadine in it. It too wasn't sweet even though the color may be deceiving. The cherries on top packed a small punch if you weren't expecting it. (I wasn't)

Here is a very cute appetizer. The Flaming Sticks. It was good both with the sauce and with out it. It had shrimp and some other seafood in there. can't really go into more detail other than it was good.

Here we have an appetizer I was indecisive about. It was between this and another one that I eventually ordered later on. It was sort of like a potato quiche with curry and fresh peas.  The cucumber sauce was light and refreshing. too bad there was only two to share unlike the flaming sticks. It left me wanting  more!!

The dish I almost didn't get but ECSTATIC that I did. One of my favorite appetizer at a Thai place is curry with some type of bread to dip. This reminded me of my Favorite dish at another restaurant. This dish Made my day.  The Roti was flaky and soft in the middle like it's suppose to be. The sauce was inexplicably good!. So good it was used for another dish below.

This had to be the smallest serving of rice known to man kind. And to the average Caribbean this is insulting!!!!!

The reason why I was Highly disappointed in the place lies beneath these words. This was their Flaming Chicken. The small presentation they had when lighting it on fire was the cheapest thing I've ever seen. But that wasn't why I didn't like it. The average foodie could tell just by the look of it that it lacked flavor. And Boy were my Taste Buds disappointed when that was the case. I swear it didn't have ANY salt or pepper. I asked the Waiter to change my dish he said "you ordered chicken right" I said Yes but this has no flavor what so ever..He said " But You ordered Chicken"
I was waiting on him to say another sly remark...

Luckily My friends dish was pretty good. He had the Fried Tilapia over a bed of flat noodles in a red curry sauce. I had a few bites while the cook was making my next dish. I had a bright Idea to use the sauce from the Roti dish on top of the fish. Good Lord was that an IDEA. He liked it too and continued to use the rest of the sauce. Only thing I wish was more bread for dipping.

After waiting 25 minuets I finally got a dish I was familiar with. which was green curry chicken. It was what I expected it to be. Nothing special really. But at least I had chicken with flavor. The whole time eating I was praying I didn't get sick later on.

But unfortunately I did an hour later. I had the worst headache of my life that day. It didn't go away no matter what I did. Could have been from mixing the drinks but two drinks never do that to me. And it could have been a curse put on me by the evil waiter. Who by the way wasn't Thai... Come to think of it, none of the staff were Asian, neither were the cooks when i stepped in the back to use the ladies room...

I would recommend this place for the appetizers and the drinks. Maybe I just had a bad reaction for standing up for my taste buds. Who knows maybe you'll have a better experience!!

I grew a green thumb this summer and I loved it. Among the various things that grew in my garden a few survived all the summer months and might carry onto the fall. (Fingers crossed.)

This is something I didn't expect to grow at ALL. My favorite vegetable (fruit) in the world. Okra. They are still growing my my garden. Haven't tried making them yet. i'm really waiting to see how big they can get most are at least 6 inches which is huge for that vegetable.

My all time favorite herb Basil grew up to 4 feet from a measly 7 inches. That miracle grow worked wonders. I can't say I used it a lot this summer but my mom and a few family members did. I mean two 4 feet plants is more than enough for a lot of people to crank out their home made pizza or pasta dish.

Eggplants are another awesome plant I grew this year, and which was one of my moms Favorite. She wasn't the most patient person when she saw them growing up to 10OZ each. She would invent an eggplant dish every day!! One minuet there would be none then then very next minuet I was able to harvest 4 or 5 of them from this one plant. Felt like a real live Farmville in my back yard!

Tomatoes was the big winner of them all. I had one plant that grew 7 feet tall and about 6 feet wide in less than a month. Once my mom saw how quickly the tomatoes grew she stopped shopping for them and made her own tomato paste, puree, and sauce. Not so sure how this plant will last during the fall but it was good while it lasted.

Here is a bag full of what she collects in a weeks time. The cucumber was store bought not part of my garden. Althought I might end up planting that too next year.

And lastly we have Green peppers. I bought a rainbow of peppers that all grew to store bought sizes. It was also another plant that grew up to 2 1/2 fee from a small pot. There was no reason to shop for produce this summer with my green thumb going hay wire. And the best thing about planting was the outcome. My mom was extremely happy with the amount of produce that produced out there!!!

Other items that I planted were:
Carrots :(Never grew)
Starberries (grew but never stood a chance with my neighbors)
Pears ( the tree grew up to 5 feet but only produced baby pears)
Thyme ( still there and loving it)
Oregano ( didn't last with the tomato monster growing lol)
Rosemary ( great plant and wonderful in most of my chicken or steak dishes)
Watermelon ( started to grow then kids got to it)

I will do this again next year with more experience and a greener thumb. But till then I have to figure out what to do for the fall!!

Talk about a great night!!!

We found this Bar in one of the shopping centers in Miami that was making $4 mojitos and Good Lord were they good. I had 2 and free samples which added up to 3 and 1/2. They freshly make the mojito in front of you with the sugar, mint and lime. There was an awesome dance that the bartenders did that captivated you and made you want to dance...

When I say favorite I mean Favorite. I ate this dish 4 times that day!!!

Just to give you a feel for what this dish actually contains:
Rice made with fried scallions and olive oil.
The beef stew had has string beans, coyote(vegetable) carrots, onions, spinach, tomato sauce and paste, and a few more veggies I an't remember
The white sauce you see is actually white bean sauce puree
in the Bean sauce there are a few seasonings, fried scallions, and home made potato dumplings (similar to Gnocchi)

Holy cow I am craving this again. Takes about 3 hours or so for everything to come together but it's worth the wait!!!

Last night out on the town. It was a pleasure spending it with great people. But of course the food was even better!!!

Here we toasted our last free shot before we dug into out appetizer. It seemed like sex on the beach was the only free shot all the restaurants were willing to give...

Here we have an excellent spinach dip "creamy spinach dip
House made tortilla chips". It did not last more than 5 seconds before we all devoured. It was not your typical spinach and artichoke dip. It was fresh and light and that salsa was excellent as well. We all fought for the last bit of dip which I rose as victorious till the real food came along!!

Here we have one of my friends dish which was the linguine with shrimp. The fresh tomatoes and the shrimp went really well with the pasta. I wanted another bite but it I left him alone unlike with the plantain soup!!

Here was a dish I debated on trying and glad I didn't. It was the "Gnocchi Verdi ai Quattro for MaGGi Spinach & ricotta dumplings with four cheese sauce & roasted Parmesan tomato" The description sounds good but my friend wasn't pleased. I didn't get a chance to try it but she quickly traded her meal for something else. She was pleased with it and I didn't get a chance to get a snap shot of it. Sad that there was a Gnocchi in the world that failed! :(

Here was a dish my last friends had which was chicken and mushroom stuffed pasta. I didn't try it but she was in club paradise after the first bite. I was fully submerged in my dish that I didn't care to have a bite. Maybe next time i'll try it.

Here we have my dish. When I say this was the bomb I mean it!!!.It was linguine pesto. My whole entire stay in Miami has lead to this awesome meal. I was more than pleased with this dish and all dishes I tried. Nothing made more more happy the whole trip than to just eat and enjoy what Miami had to offer! I'd love to go back again soon!
