Let's talk about Irish Pub... and lets also talk about Gourmet food...
The two never really go hand in hand..but this place broke the rules with that!!

While looking for something different in midtown to eat for lunch I stumbled upon this place for lunch and boy was I happy! They have 4 floors all fully stocked with it's own bar on each floor. TV's to watch any game that's on, and Lovely customer service!!!

Now onto the food

Death by Lobster Lobster Ravioli, Lobster Sherry Cream, Lobster Garnish

Here I ordered the Death by Lobster dish... Oh my god was this delicious... I mean The bread was inhaled after two bites ( I secretly almost asked for another one) and the sauce for the lobster was out of this world. It also had a warm salad on top that just made the whole dish come together. I should have taken a picture of the end result because I literally destroyed that plate of food.

Three Peppercorn Steak
Peppercorn Steak, Baby Greens
Red Onions, Blue Cheese, Tomatoes
Blue Cheese Dressing

I went to lunch with my cousin and she had their Steak salad. I tried a piece of steak and was really impressed. It was cook right to temperature. The salad was super fresh as if they picked it out of a garden, really tasty. When she was finishing up her last few bits I kind of stole another slice of steak. It was seasoned really well that I feel like going there today on my off day just for that slice of steak!!!

Oh well...

Other dishes on the menu looked really appetizing on other peoples table, so much so that I'm planning my next lunch venture there.. and I will most certainly write about it here!!!

Till next time guys!!!

I love exploring new places in the city! So when my cousin and I both found this place we just had to give it a try!

Hanger Steak Frites served with Cafe DE Paris Bearnaise

This dish look better than it tasted. Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. Maybe our issue was the service, or how long it took to get this dish. Not sure. okay... let me take it back... The steak was good... but I wouldn't venture out to this place again for  it. The sauce was tangy but it neither helped or hindered the steak on the plate. It needed a bit of salt if you asked me. The steak was tender but it needed a dash of something to help it. The fries were cool but nothing special

I might go back on another day for lunch and try something else... but it wont be anytime soon... Maybe others will have had better experiences than I've had... Any way go check them out and see if you have a better experience.

Sometimes looks may really be deceiving. unfortunately, I suffered this quote twice with the two dishes below.

Doesn't this steak look out of this world? Well it was more like out of the trash.... It was well done, and I could not return it because we were at a wedding and everyone was running a muck. The stick says medium but it was cooked until it couldn't be cooked any more. Highly upset about this one.... The potatoes needed love and the greens on the plate needed Jesus...

The mother of all Fuck ups is here.

The Salmon needed the most help. I kid you not... it tasted like it had freezer burn. SERIOUSLY!!! This place is beautiful. Great service, and amazing drinks.... Why was their dinner not up to par? Thank god I stock up on the cocktail hour because this was unacceptable!!!

I wouldn't consider having my wedding reception here because of the amount of bad reviews we had that night... but on the bright side... there was a celebration at hand to be more than happy about!

Oh what an amazing Dinner this was!!!

Please excuse the pictures in this post... I was more hungry than I was interested in getting pictures...

These bread things here were amazing... I had no idea what they were called... but I kept stuffing my face with them!

cheesebread

I loved how the men came with the meat and served you a sliver of what ever it was you wanted. A great way to try things and not have to be obligated to eat everything!

This was steak... Don't recall which kind but it was really good!

There was sausage and Wings Galore!!!

The sides they had kept coming at the table... I was really excited about the fried polenta and the sweet plantains... didn't care much about the mash potatoes.

Fine dining is something that I love to do. But, my budget for this blog doesn't amount to the money I spent on this lunch. One day I might have a blog just about FINE dining in the sense of $$$$ restaurant when I make it big as a  well know Blogger, but until then, these types of excursions will be very rare and really special!

My cousin, is someone I look up to. A role model so to speak, so when she explained that she wasn't really doing anything on the day of her birthday, but two weeks after I felt like Judith to the rescue!!! Her palette has tasted nothing short of the word FINE or well renowned cuisine, so it was only fair we both had lunch at one of her favorite steak houses.

Here we have a crab cake that is not your typical crab cake, but a crab cake like no other. The word lump does not fall shy in this dish, hopefully the picture captures the true essence and detail of this magnificent creature transformed into a dish that many has tried, and failed to master. My friends... If you have not tried a true crab cake from Del Frisco's then you have certainly done a disservice to yourself and your friends. I can not describe how mouth watering, and decadent this dish was. My mouth is watering thinking how I've passed this restaurant many a times and did not know this dish existed.... enough rambling... please do yourself a favor and your friends and GO GET THIS CRAB CAKE NOW!!!!!

Crab Cake

Cajun Lobster Sauce

Because it was lunch time, and steak houses are well known for their big portions, we decided to share a steak and a side. Never have I ever had a lobster mac and cheese so delicious as this. The bechamel sauce was like no other. The richness of the cheese and the fresh chunks of lobster carried me to a place I did not want to leave.

We had he Rib-eye cooked medium well, the plate they put in front of us were nice and hot with parsley and butter. the waiter served us both equal portions of the steak and boy was he a GREAT waiter. The steak melted in our mouth. I mean literately it was inexpiable guys. Where do you find meat so delicious and make it so buttery. Where???

I love this place. Just wanted to get that out there. So after reviewing their restaurant week menu and getting upset, I remembered they had a regular prefixed lunch menu that never disappointed.

Here we have what I craved from their previous chef, mac and cheese. Maybe it doesn't sound as enticing as it should. Well it is everything and more!! However, they've changed their recipe which kind of left a hole in my heart. I hate change, but it was doable.  The bechamel sauce was similar to the old recipe sans the panko topping. I'd get it again.

My entree . Oh my god my entree. Glazed salmon, quinoa, and a nice slaw on the side. I can't explain the dance my tongue was doing with those flavors. It was a healthy portion for lunch (especially after that mac and cheese app). The presentation left to the imagine and the execution of the dish was flawless. I would definitely order this again in a heart beat. If you find your self here please order this medium well. You get that perfect salmon flavor that way!!

Here's another loom at that beautiful dish

My cousin ordered the French steak and fritters. I had a bite of each. Kind of kicks my self for not ordering that. But hey I get the beat of both worlds ordering my Salmon. The sauce (gravy) on top of that slab of meat was heaven. Its not on the online menu so I can't remember what was in it. The fritters were like hash browns stuffed with cheese and fries to perfection. Another dish executed flawlessly.

If you haven't found of stumbled upon this location, your doing a disservice to your palette. I highly recommend this place!!

I love brunch. I love not going to far for brunch as well!!

After a relaxing day on Saturday I wanted to do brunch on the island but not too far! We hit the jackpot!!!

Steak and eggs with home fries for my bf. I wish I ordered this. But hey he shared half of his steak with me. So I was a happy camper!!  The steak was well seasoned and juicy!  omg I wish I had some right now. You could use a butter knife (like I did) to cut into it and enjoy!! The home fries had Rosemary and peppers and really made you feel like a well thought out dish for Sunday brunch. Not to mention the foot ball games going on.

My fish was the omelet, cooked just how I asked. The home fries made the dish whole. Damn I wish it were Sunday again!!!

Along with your meal cones blueberry corn bread and some bagels and butter. A lot of food!!!!

Can't have brunch with out the booze!!! The bartenders did their job well!! I think me and My bf guzzled down 3 and a half bottles in 2 hours!!!  Best brunch ever!!!

They have other amazing items on their menu. As I've mentioned, it was foot ball Sunday, so a bunch of guys had wings. I just wanted one and guess what!!!  A guy sitting next to us at the bar was eating a stack of wings I asked how were they and he plopped a few on my plate!!!  Oh yea baby food makes me happy!!!! I Will definitely come back here again for sure!

Until next time!!!

The strand bistro was amazing!!!

First off, the lunch pre fix meal is $20 bucks. You get a choice of a few appetizers, entrees, and an ice tea.

My cousin got her usual steak frites. I tried it and died a little inside!!!  The steak was cook to the right temperature. The fries were seasoned perfectly. I was slightly jealous I didn't order this dish, but it gave me more reason to come back!!

My entrees was the Salmon on a bed of mash potatoes and asparagus!  Holy vow was this delicious!  The salmon was super delicate and flavorful. The mash with the sauce and the asparagus left me wanting more. I found a new guilty pleasure lunch spot!!

Now the reason I left the appetizer for last was because of the sinful decadence it left you with. Panko crusted mac and cheese. The cheese sauce was out of this world! I kid you not it was like no other mac and cheese dish I ever had! The portion was more than enough for an appetizer! I remember leaving strands and wanting more of the mac and cheese than any thing else!!!  I need this recipe!

All in all this place rocks! I would highly recommend this place.

Lets talk about steak deals for just under $25 on a normal day... right... unheard of... So why am I super excited about this one? Well it starts of with the amazing restaurant week deals that goes on twice a year in New York. You have a bunch of these great places that offers lunch for as low at $25 for a three course meal and dinner for $38

Here we have the bread you usually get at a steak house. I was amazed by how the bread pulled apart. I immediately tried to figure out how it was made. I like the pesto like oil on the side as well!

I never ate a salad with a fork and knife before, and thought that this was interesting. The dressing was really good, and I liked the home made feel the croutons had.

These frites were awesome. Nice bite to them, not too salty and paired really well with the steak!!!

I love skirt steak. I also liked the sauce that accompanies the dish. What can I say, it was good. Would I pay retail value for it... no... I'm glad that restaurant week has a deal like this for the experience.

I would recommend this place for their ambiance and presentation. I'd like to go back and try another steak...

I would def come back for lunch, dinner, when I'm bored, Oh yea If you have a crossroads card even better! They take 10 Percent off your entire bill. For a table of 8 We ended up paying on $22 each with tax and tip included. And boy it was a lot of food. I love family style resturaunt. I love the concept of sharing food at the table. But when I .und out about!!! this place, I was excited. It was way better tasting than Carmines by Far!!!

Here we have the Chicken Parmesan. Oh My good Was it good. To cook it so perfectly in this size takes skill. I was Floored by the sauce to chicken to cheese ratio. We had two orders of this! A def thing to try here.

Here we have the Mushroom braised Sirloin dish. Oh my god was this really food. It was a special that day. I normally don't eat a lot of beef in one day but I went back for more, and more, and more. We had one order of this and it was plenty .

A side of Spinach with Garlic never hurt no body!. I loved the toasted flavor of the garlic and the fresh not weltered taste of the spinach. They had me at Hello!!!

This was the Friday special. Black linguini with seafood! Salmons, clams, muscles , calamari, oh the works ! we had two orders of this beauty!

Graduating from high school is a milestone everyone gets through. We decided to celebrate my brothers graduation with a little Mexican brunch in Long island.

We tried the table side guacamole and asked that it had a little heat. It was nice and tasty and enough heat to say hello. This was a double, and to have people who don't like guacamole to like it after trying it from here was a win win!

My mom got the grilled chicken salad, and asked that a few items were left out. She wasn't too pleased with the chard taste that was left on the chicken, but she ate it any way.

My dad had the Steak version of the salad and asked that only steak and lettuce be on his plate. He too didn't agree with the chard taste of his steak, but ate the salad alone. I had a taste of it and thought it was fine.

My sister wasn't too pleased with the chicken quesadilla but I thought they were decent...

My dish I was more than happy to get. Chicken enchilada with green sauce! It was perfect chicken, to taco, to sauce ratio. I had the almond green rice on the side to accompany my dish. I was in a little heaven. Being in Long island for so long... it's not easy finding restaurants that have decent food I'm used to.

This chicken finger dish was for my niece. I mean the portion was a bit too much, but i couldn't help steal one whole finger from her. Surprisingly, it was flavorful and not dry. The fries were crispy and not oily... my niece enjoyed what she ate as well.

My brother and my guy both had the chicken mole. They weren't too pleased and stated it was an acquiring taste. I agreed. The chocolate after taste was a bit bitter, but with the rice on the side it worked kind of well. Would I have picked that if I'd gone back... NO

Now for the star of the day! Their mango cheese cake.... Next photo if you will

I think everyone at the table was fighting for a at-least a third or fourth bite. My brother had it and I wish we ordered it along side with him. It's a must try!!!

What we did order to share was the Tres leche. It was really up my ally. Not too sweet but yummy. perfect consistency and share able. the fresh fruit added a little bit of freshness to it as well!

I would try this place once again and give it another review. But until then I'd say go there and see what you think!

Great tasting crab cake I have ever had!!! It had real big lumps of crab, the mango chutney type combo on top was amazing, and the aoli on the bottom was phenomenal.

Salmon with herb Risotto, shaved fennel,  peppercress salad. Oh my gosh!!! This is why I love food. Yes i did salmon twice on this trip but who cares.. I ordered it at a steakhouse because it's not always about the darn steak. I am super happy that I did. Now of course I had a bit or two of steak from the other ladies but that's besides the point. This salmon was knock your socks off good!!!!

I'd go here again for the crab cake in a heartbeat!

La CAYE

It means at home in Creole, and boy do you feel at home after this visit. I almost didn't want to leave!!

Macaroni au gratin
Oh boy was this DYNAMITE.  The perfect crust on the top and the nice creamy sauce on the noodles had me singing in my head!!!

Black mushroom rice

I love Haitian rice and when done right, I really really love it. The flavors developed in the rice were out of sight. Paired with the dish I had, this had to be a crime!!!

Pain patate
A sweet potato pie Haitian style paired with vanilla ice cream. This is another dish done right and done really well.
Basil Sangria
This was good; it had a peculiar taste to it. I was completely satisfied with it though.

Sakepase Mojitos

The Passion fruit flavor was so decadent that I had another one. As the night drew on, the bartender revealed that they made this drink with a passion fruit wine. Alone the wine is a great treat, but in this mojito, it serves justice!!

Akras
This was an interesting dish, Never had this before and it was spicy. It paired well with the wings.
Red velvet cake with vanilla ice cream
The three of us fought for the last bites of the deserts. Of course my spoon was pretty swift and I got my winning bite!
Creole Wings
These wings are to die for literally. I never had wings so flavor-fully fried and juicy as these. The sauce that was on top was criminal. I really wanted another order but we were on a quest to try everything on the menu and that def was on the list for a repeat order!
Lambi Boucane
Grilled conch, most people aren't really familiar with this sea creature on their plates, and to me that's criminal. if only you knew what you were missing you'd want to say "what have I been missing all my life".  This was so good, I never had conch grilled and that sauce again!!! It was DYNAMITE

Sakepase Mojitos
This was the pomegranate flavor. I think collectively we all liked the passion fruit more, but this one was equally as good as the passion fruit.

Seafood Creole
My honest opinion about eating crab legs for happy hour is don't do it, but when your hungry and three drinks down, what the heck, you ordered it already!! The lobster was good, the sauce on the bottom was great. The crab legs had a great taste to it, the prawns were perfectly season. Could I marry the cook right now and just stop salivating over these picture of that night? I'm just saying!!
Steak Au Poivre

This had to be the best steak I've ever had. The sauce on top HOLY COW. I mean this dish alone is criminal. So much so that I kept picking at it when my cousin turned away. The bed of spinach had a really nice flavor to it alone then hit with that cream sauce on top. Please tell the Chef my number and I will get back to him!!!

This place is criminal, the food and the service is so friendly, and the atmosphere is truly like home. I kid you not,  if you haven't listend to any of my reviews of really good food listen to this one. STOP WHAT YOUR DOING AND HEAD DOWN THERE RIGHT NOW. You will not stop thanking me for letting you try this place out!!
