Many times when you hear good reviews about a place, you kind of want to go and check it out to see the validity in it. Well... Sometimes I think it's best if one simply reads bad reviews before the good ones to see the true side of things versus the blind one.

I did not really enjoy my happy hour here and we will see why.

Below we have my first choice drink. there was only a select few drink that were on happy hour. $10 for a happy hour cocktail is highway robbery. Aside from that it was only at the bar... I asked the bartender what the best drinks were he didn't like this one here... So I tried it and saw why. The drink was mostly air. I mean I was drinking AIR. The foam that developed from him shaking it in the shaker made the drink unbelievably airy. Never again!!!

Rooster Colada......................................................................13
don q coco, pineapple, strawberry, cream

So I opted for the drink that was his favorite. Not a fan but it was cool. I loved that there was a spicy kick to it from the actual ginger pieces and the reinforced flavor of the ginger beer. The flavors in the drink were nice... but it wasn't a happy hour price...

Harlem Mule.........................................................................13
ballantine blended scotch, house made ginger beer, lime, basil

My Babe opted for the first drink we both locked eyes on. However, it's better to try two drinks than stay with one. We both liked his drink the most out of the three. So much so I re-invented the drink when I got home. OH yes it was WAY better than their Happy Hour one.

Savoy ....................................................................................12
wodka vodka, lemon, muddled grapes, agave

Now onto the Entree. Once again... nothing on the menu was oh Happy hour pricing... Kind of annoying if you ask me... don't call it a happy hour if the prices aren't making most people happy...

Anyway....My dish was warm...not hot at all. The noodles were okay, the oxtail was shredded (not expected) and the brought was okay at best. The tasted bread was too hard on the edges and soft in the middle. The chard taste left a metal after taste in my mouth... I wasn't to fond of this dish...

OXTAIL PAPPARDELLE .............................................................. 19
Red wine braised oxtail, black kale, green garlic-san marzano tomato, aged pecorino

My babe got the mac and Greens with Lobster. he was shocked at how bad this dish was.. So was I. I mean the amount of lobster looked great... but the flavor wasn't great. It needed something like salt, pepper, or something I don't know!!!
The salad was okay, but who eats raw okra and a small raw red onion?
This was disappointment at it's best.

MAC & GREENS............................................................................ 18
smoked gouda, NY cheddar, caramelized onions (add lobster $8, add maple bacon $5)

My overall experience plus the mediocre food did not help encourage a round two for this place. I'd love to say something good about it but I was more upset than optimistic about giving them another try.

Maybe next year when I forget about this post I'll try to go here... but until then... Blah I wouldn't go here if I was in the neighborhood again...

Birthday dinners are awesome, especially when you get to try new places at that. This was a food adventure for 5 women on a special night.

Here, something I dare not try was a pallet cleanser... I'll say It did not really cleanse anything.

‘Chicken n’ Waffles’ - $19
brick pressed chicken, aged cheddar waffle,
corn pudding, balsamic spiked maple syrup

This dish was okay. My issue was that it did not come in 5 pieces as the following items did, so we had to share a piece. The waffle was a bit soggy as well, but the flavor profiles were awesome.

Rhode Island Lobster Roll $10

These Lobster rolls were good, but for a "Tapas" style restaurant, you'd think they'd explain that these were $10 a pop instead of insinuating that a roll would be cut up into pieces for the table. It was good...but bad communication was a problem.

Baked Spanakopita -
phyllo, spinach, feta, lemon aioli $8

This was good, but I wasn't too crazy about it. I think if the wrap was friend a little longer it would have been better, considering that everything inside was soggy, the outer layer should have been crisp.

Red Snapper Tacos -
creamy avocado, spicy mango $10
These tacos were everything. I was really happy we ordered these tacos. It was full of flavor and I wanted more than just one! This is a must order item.

Maryland Jumbo Lump
Crab cake ‘Corn Dogs’ $14

These crab cake corn dogs were to die for. I remember trying to savor the moment of each bite. They did a really good job getting that crab on there. Wish we ordered two of these!!

Cranberry Flower
Hendrick’s Gin, cranberry compote,
fresh lemon, lemon syrup

I took a sip of this drink and thought it was good, my friend thought it was strong. I love Gin, and it's an acquired spirit that grows on some people and sometimes it doesn't... I'd order it if I could afford it (hahaha)

Brooklyn Lemonade
Brooklyn Gin, lemon syrup, fresh lemon, muddled cucumber, ginger beer

This drink made us all think of summer time, outside just soaking in the sun. Yea, summer where are you? I would get this drink. Luckily, one girl didn't want hers so I was fortunate enough to get half of it. Nice and refreshing.

Strawberry Fields
Grey Goose Citron, muddled fresh strawberries, lemon syrup, fresh lemon
& a Riesling floater

The birthday girls drink was tasty. I'm not into sweet drinks, so this wouldn't be on my radar, but from the look on her face, she enjoyed it.

Blood Orange-Jalapeño Margarita
jalapeño-infused Milagro Reposado, blood orange juice, fresh lime, Cointreau

This was my drink. AND I LOVED IT. YES I DID. The spicy and the tart, and the alcohol all made me warm and tingly inside. Or maybe it was just really hot in the restaurant.... Anyway, the waiter mentioned that it was his favorite drink and I agree!!! It is a Must try drink.

Old School Meatballs - $14
basil & ricotta ‘manicotti’

These meatballs were really tasty. They instantly made me want a side of Penne al dente and some wine. It was really that good.

Social Mac & Cheese -
chorizo, roasted poblanos $12

This was sans chorizo,  It was not the best Mac and cheese I've ever had......

All in all... this place was cool and sexy. Would I come again... Not sure, But I think it's a great place for a group of people to try new food ideas gourmet style... Till next time!!

I love this place. Just wanted to get that out there. So after reviewing their restaurant week menu and getting upset, I remembered they had a regular prefixed lunch menu that never disappointed.

Here we have what I craved from their previous chef, mac and cheese. Maybe it doesn't sound as enticing as it should. Well it is everything and more!! However, they've changed their recipe which kind of left a hole in my heart. I hate change, but it was doable.  The bechamel sauce was similar to the old recipe sans the panko topping. I'd get it again.

My entree . Oh my god my entree. Glazed salmon, quinoa, and a nice slaw on the side. I can't explain the dance my tongue was doing with those flavors. It was a healthy portion for lunch (especially after that mac and cheese app). The presentation left to the imagine and the execution of the dish was flawless. I would definitely order this again in a heart beat. If you find your self here please order this medium well. You get that perfect salmon flavor that way!!

Here's another loom at that beautiful dish

My cousin ordered the French steak and fritters. I had a bite of each. Kind of kicks my self for not ordering that. But hey I get the beat of both worlds ordering my Salmon. The sauce (gravy) on top of that slab of meat was heaven. Its not on the online menu so I can't remember what was in it. The fritters were like hash browns stuffed with cheese and fries to perfection. Another dish executed flawlessly.

If you haven't found of stumbled upon this location, your doing a disservice to your palette. I highly recommend this place!!

I love to try new things for lunch. However, this lunch was a bit too expensive for my experimenting habit.

The mac and cheese sounded a little better than it taste. After a while you get tires of eating it. I would Share this dish rather than request to eat it all alone!

The tacos were really good. For the price I would only get them if I needed a snack that would be healthier then most options in that general area. This was a chicken taco. I loved the flavors and the freshness of the salsa on top. You could tell that they marinated the chicken for a while to develop those deep flavors. I would most likely get this one again.

This here was their fish taco. I was a little disappointed that they didn't mention which fish it was. I guess between whiting or tilapia. Either way, it was okay, not the greatest fish taco I've had. The fish was a bit salty and the salsa had no right being on that taco. I would have put some radishes and cilantro or something instead. I wouldn't get this one again.

Any who, I would come back for a quick snack, not so much for a lunch or anything like that.

Happy Hour is always fun with a good ole friend. Especially when it involves a great deal.
TACO Tuesday's!!!

Below we have two taco's that you can dress any way you like. Freshly prepared, slowly cooked meat. My favorite one is the chicken one in the middle. I begged for more! The salsa had jalapeno's and fresh tomatoes, the lettuce and onions were fresh and the cheese was a great kicker. Loved everything about it. If you in the neighborhood on Tuesday go out and have a great taco!

The Pizza there is good. Second time having it actually... But you could add any topping you like for 50c, so we went out on a limb and had them put broccoli... who says pizza had to be unhealthy? Not I!!!

And we have beer! Blue Moon to be exact. A pitcher will run you only $8 bucks and if your not sharing it will last you a while.

I recommend this place for it's nice chilled ambiance and it's friendly wait staff! It's a must try!!!

OMG I fell in love with this place and dreamed of the day I would go back and I did. This place is located in South Street Seaport before the docking area on you left. I could not find a website but I did find a couple Yelp-rs recommending this place like I am.

Below we have my favorite thing that I was introduced to. I love ribs but these were ridiculously delicious that I ordered another one.... and I was not ashamed!. It's called Guinness_______ribs. That's how I describe it.  The fries are fresh, they don't taste like they were frozen, and the vegetables are seasons perfectly. And it's not with just salt and pepper. I taste a little cumin or something in there.

Now why would someone go to a "Fish Market" and order ribs you might ask... Well We all know that the seas food would be great for crying out loud it's by the water. But what you don't expect is for the other dishes to be as decadent and rich in flavor. I would never try the ordinary culinary decisions at a restaurant because it's part of the norm. I like to dive into something extraordinary and be surprised. I have yet to be disappointed!

If your ever in the area I highly recommend trying this. You will not be disappointed. And for the gamers out there I believe on Tuesdays you are aloud to bring in your consoles and play other gamers alike. Till then happy eating!

Out on the town with my date and we stumble upon this bar/restaurant. We were hungry and wanted to try something local. It was nearing 11:30pm and we didn't know if they'd still be serving food. But low and behold they were until 12am. We walked in and the people we awesome and very welcoming.

We both had drinks that I forgot to take pictures of but hey they were good.

Below was my sandwich that consisted of turkey cheese and the house sauce. And when I say the sauce was so good I almost bit my finger forgetting I was nearing my last bite. It was well seasoned and melt in your mouth goodness. I wanted another burger but thought quickly that it was gluttony and I couldn't do that around the Lent season!

Below my date had a regular cheese burger with the sauce as well and he too said it was succulent and divine. It went well with his beer as well.

I wish I took a picture of my drink because it was the waiters suggested drink and he suggested right. I was really happy we found this place.

We also had a side of sweet potato fries and that picture could not have been taken due to the fact it was gone as soon as it hit the table.

I would recommend going here for lunch, dinner, date, get together, or even to watch the game. It was a really good dinning experience and hope others feel the same as well!

I Love Fried food and when I found out that there was a place in Brooklyn that fried everything (even a shoe is they had to) I was floored.

Below we have fried mac and cheese. Now I'm one to have had fried mac from other places and thought it was mediocre but this was just pure awesomeness! There was enough cheese to macaroni ratio and frying it was like the icing on the cake. I ordered another one... yes I did :)
Here we have the old Fish and Chip combo. I did not take a picture of the chips but the fish was really good. The batter was light. the cod was nice and flaky. I felt like I was eating a decadent pillow. Must try!!!!
The Main Reason I Came HERE was the Fried PIZZA!!!!. And boy was I in for it. The pizza was so good. I'm more of a doughy pizza kind of girl with less sauce more cheese. This had the ratio I was looking for and then some. I mean to fry a slice of pizza is culinary genius! I was speechless and of-course I had another one!!!!!!
Last but definitely not Least I had the only desert on the menu besides candy bars. Fried banana. Just looking at this picture makes my stomach growl. The chocolate sauce was a nice complement to that batter they use. I need to Know how to fry just about anything. Then I too will be a culinary genius!!
